Committee Volunteer Form

The AAOA is committed to member involvement. Our committee structure is the backbone of program development and implementation for member services and specialty advocacy. As such, committee activity is a great learning opportunity to become more involved with the AAOA and potential rise to leadership roles. We encourage all members to volunteer for committee service. Below we have defined the role of each committee. Please consider where your skills best fit and use the form to submit your name for consideration.

Continuing Medical Education
John Krouse, MD, PhD, Chair
Task: Evaluate and define process to implement strategic goals tied to education. Program tasks include scientific program development, faculty training, curricula review, new program development, enduring materials, exhibitor development, Annual meeting planning/Development, ACCME compliance, Resident Education and Retreat, Academic Retreat, Resident travel agent program.
Research
Berrylin Ferguson, MD, Chair
Task: Review grant applications; recommend funding; evaluate/track grants; recommend AAOAF-funded grantees for annual meeting presentations; liaison with Otolaryngology-HNS Journal; liaison with AAO-HNSF and CORE on ENT research issues; create model protocols for resident research projects; presentations; research awards, as well as Pen and Scroll award. Identify candidates for Shambaugh lecture.
Socioeconomic Issues
Paul Fass, MD, Chair
Task: Federal and regulatory agency advocacy: Monitor, collaborate, and react to issues/actions of the CMS (HCFA), RUC, PEAC, CPT, FDA, OSHA, and related government agencies. Payor Advocacy; Member One-on-One Advocacy; and Otolaryngology/Intraspecialty Advocacy.
Patient & Professional Education
Richard Haydon, III, MD, Chair
Task: Website; member online and print directory; Patient brochures; media outreach and related marketing tool development; AAOA Today; Otolaryngology/Intraspecialty Advocacy. (Identify current and future AAOA leaders in key intraspecialty roles.)
Strategic Planning
Edwyn Boyd, MD, Chair
Task: Review strategic plan in light of budget allocations. Review new program proposals to evaluate fit within strategic plan and strategic budget.
Corporate Development
Ivor Emanuel, MD, Chair
Task: Define development goals and priorities.
Membership
David Palmer, MD, Chair
Task: Review new member applications; process delinquent members; develop membership marketing efforts.
